Vocal Music Program Belief Statement

The vision of Downers Grove Grade School District 58 Vocal Music Program

is to enrich the quality of life through the creation, performance and study of music.

Through music, students gain a greater understanding of their own cultural heritage,

as well as a sense of the larger world community. 

Music is a vital component in our pursuit of education as a life long process.

Our program will:

1.   Teach the elements of music. 

2.   Encourage students to create and perform music.

3.   Help students understand how works of music are produced.

4.   Develop the skills necessary to participate in a variety of musical activities.

5.   Help students understand the role of music in their own culture, and society in general.
