Ozzie's Reading Club Read 150 minutes every 2 weeks to earn a ticket to a Cougars game (and other small prizes)! Begins January 9th Final sheet due March 1st Turn in sheet every two weeks (1/20, 2/3, 2/17, and 2/20) |
Important Announcements:
- If your child forgets an item needed for school (homework, fruit break, lunch, etc.), please label it with their name and our class name (1/2B) and put it on the table outside of the office. The students know that they should check there for items they need that day.
- The large math facts packet in your Curriculum Night packet can be used as the math facts practice (Purple Sheet-Reading Log). It is NOT homework and does not need to be returned. You can have your child play math games on the computer, review math facts with you while driving, or use the packet. It is your choice of how to review facts.

- Don't forget fruit breaks! We will be eating a fruit/vegetable break at about 10:00 every day. Send a spoon if the break requires it. Thank you! Also, feel free to send a water bottle with your child each day.
- Please check homework schedule below for assignments. Assignments are listed on the day assigned and are due the following morning, unless otherwise noted.

- ACCELERATED READER- Provided by the Pierce Downer PTA If you are looking for books for your child to read, a good place to look would be in the AR Bookfinder. This link will help you find books that are at the correct reading level and also of interest to your child. The link is listed below (red button). Once these stories are read, the students can let me know they are ready to take their AR quiz.

- Ask Me About...Please read this section under each grade level below. Students will update this section weekly. You can use this section to help you to ask more specific questions about what your child is doing at school.
- Supplies Needed- Recess Balls/Materials (jump ropes, etc.)- If you have an extra ball or recess toy to donate, please send it in with your child.
- Reading A to Z (RAZ Kids) can be used at home. http://www.raz-kids.com/main/Login Use this link. Our teacher user name is the first initial of my first name, my last name and the letter "a" at the end. (no spaces).

General Information:
- Physical Education-Mondays and Fridays. Because gym shoes are not a required school supply, please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing to be able to participate in activities on our scheduled days for PE.
- Music- Tuesdays
- Art- every other Thursday (Please send in your art smock if you have not already)
- LRC- Book Checkout- Wednesdays. Please make sure your child returns his or her so they are ready to choose new books to read. Because the first and second grade students have different comfort levels with technology, some LRC classes will be taught together and other lessons will be grade level specific.

Ask Me About: Mrs. Breault's Class
- What book are we reading in read aloud? Do you think that will make it to the Whangdoodle?
- How many push ups or sit ups did you get in gym class?
- What songs are you learning in music?
- What projects did we make in art? What Art Awareness lessons have we had recently?
- How do we work every day to "Fill each other's Buckets"?
- What is 6 Minute Solution? Who is my partner?
- Who is my LTR teacher? Where do we have class? When is my LTR homework due? What skill am I working on in LTR?
- What is my ZPD (reading zone)? Have I taken an AR quiz yet? If not, please bring in a book after you finish reading so we can quiz. We have new ZPD levels after 10-21. Look for the new letter to come home soon!
- What did we learn from Mrs. Mulford about our "engines" and how they run? When our engine in running too fast, we can make a house (push hands with a friend), Blow up a balloon (deep breathing and move hands up), and chair push ups.
- What is Turtle Time? How does it help us with our feelings?
- Ask me what color I got on my rainbow chart.
- What kinds of books are you reading?
- Who do you sit next to in class?
First Grade:
- How can I tell time to the half hour? What is another way to say 4:30? (half-past 4)
- How much is a nickel worth? How many pennies do I need to trade in for a nickel?
Second Grade:
- What did you learn about the darkling beatle?
- How did I do on my social studies assessment?
- What did we do in LRC on Wednesday?
- Ask me about my mealworm. What does it eat?
