Mrs. Kehoe's First Grade Class The first graders have been busy learning about the writing process. As you walk down the hallway you might hear them singing... We prewrite and write, And then we revise, We edit and publish, A writing surprise! As the children completed each step in this process they truly felt like authors! They are looking forward to sharing their published books with their friends and families. In the weeks to come they will be focusing on the six traits of good writing. ( Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, and Conventions ) It is exciting to welcome so many new writers to Highland School. Prewrite The children plan their stories.  Write They write their first draft.  Revise and Edit Students meet with a partner and change their writing to make it better. Then they edit their story.  Publish They create their own book and share it with friends.  The song was taken from the Write Source, Grade 1 teachers edition. |
